## macOS 1.27

*unreleased*

- A new document never loses its text. Save on a New Document asks where to put it, and closing or quitting with an unsaved new document asks Save As, Delete, or Cancel. The text used to be thrown away on close without a word, and Save looked like it did nothing.
- Find works in raw markdown mode. Cmd-F with the source on screen searched the rendered note instead: the count in the bar was real, but nothing on screen moved, and Next and Previous walked a document you could not see. Every button in the bar now acts on whatever is in front of you. Matches are highlighted where they are, the current one is selected and brought into view, Replace and Replace All rewrite the source, and Option-Return still turns every match into a cursor. Toggling Shift-Cmd-V with the bar open re-runs the search on the surface that arrives.
- Settings ▸ Appearance ▸ Line Numbers in Raw Mode puts a numbered gutter beside the file's literal markdown. Off by default, and it applies to the pane already open. The rendered note never gets one: it has blocks, not lines.
- Edit ▸ Go to Line, Control-G. Type a number and the caret lands there, in raw markdown or in the rendered note.
- Shift-Cmd-V keeps your place. Flipping a long note to its source and back used to return you to the top; the line under the caret is carried across, both ways.

## macOS 1.26

*September 8, 2026*

- Zen mode centers the note again, at your Content Width, and hides every bit of UI, toolbar and footer included, while keeping the space above the text. The note fades out where it is, the room empties, and the note fades back in at the middle of the window; nothing slides or jumps, and the scrollbar and the outline rail sit at the window's edge. Move the pointer to the top or bottom edge and that band fades in; it fades out a second after you leave. A customer on 1.24 had the note hanging beside an invisible sidebar, with the footer still there. Every earlier animation moved the web view while it was visible, and a web view that changes width paints its old layout at the new edge for a frame; now the width only changes while the note is invisible, and a per-frame trace asserts the text is never visible anywhere but where it started or where it ends.
- View ▸ Status Bar hides the footer outside zen, and remembers it.
- Closing the last window no longer quits Wander. Switch vaults from File ▸ Open Recent, or click the Dock icon to bring the last one back. Quit is Cmd-Q, as on any Mac.
- Hide Others and Show All in the Wander menu, so Cmd-Option-H hides every other app, as it does everywhere else.
- The sidebar and the right panel keep their widths when the window changes size; the note column absorbs the change. Every resize used to shrink or stretch all three, and the shrunken width was what Wander remembered, so a width you had set drifted from launch to launch. The right panel also came back one point narrower every time it was opened, and on every launch: the restore placed the divider one point too far right, and the loss was what Wander stored.
- Settings ▸ Appearance ▸ Dark on a light Mac, or Light on a dark one, now colors everything, and follows a live switch. The format bar, menus, link cards and the outline popover kept the system's colors and could come out white on dark paper with white glyphs. A test now flips the appearance live and reads the page and the format bar back.
- New Note and New Folder buttons in the sidebar's top strip, on the left. Cmd-N and the menu still work; a customer could not find either.
- Undo after Move to Trash: Edit ▸ Undo or Cmd-Z puts the file back, from the tree, as long as the app is open. A customer had to leave the app for the Trash.
- Find's Next and Previous bring the match to the middle of the window. They only moved the highlight before, when the find bar had the focus, and a match far down the note stayed out of sight.
- The comments pane belongs to the open note. Switching notes or creating a new one kept the quote you had selected on the last note, and a comment typed then carried that stale quote. The quote clears with the note now, and a test switches notes and reads the pane back.
- A web link on its own line stays a link. Preview cards are off by default; Settings ▸ Appearance turns them on, and any single link can still become a card from its menu.
- Help & Docs has a Writing Modes page: what Standard, Focus, Typewriter and Zen do, and how to reach each.
- Open in Wander from wander.md finds the vault again. The link looked the vault up in File ▸ Open Recent, so a vault pushed off that list could not be opened, with no message. Wander now remembers where every synced vault lives; open the vault once after updating and every link to it works from then on. A link that cannot be resolved says so.
- File ▸ Open Recent shows the last 20 vaults and has Clear Menu. Wander keeps a longer history behind it, so Spotlight, Siri and links keep finding vaults you have not opened in a while.

## macOS 1.25

*September 7, 2026*

- The About card grew up. It says who makes Wander, with a photo. A row to rate it, and issue, idea and question that open the feedback sheet. Updates by email, with the field right there, and the row knows once you have confirmed, on every device signed into your Apple ID.
- Settings has three new pages. Apps lists the rest of the family with their real icons. Feedback holds every door in one place, including wander@tinysend.com. About tells the story and links the site and the tracker; About Wander in the app menu opens it.
- File ▸ Share… shares the note on screen through the system share sheet.
- Cmd-U underlines in a typst file. Undoing the last multi-cursor selection step moved to Shift-Cmd-U.
- The format bar shows what the open file can do: a typst file gets its own set, an HTML note shows no markdown buttons.
- Spotlight on macOS 26 runs Wander's actions in place: type Open Note or Append to Inbox, fill in the text, press Return.
- A .base file opens as its table in every vault. The Database feature is on by default now; it used to need a trip to Settings, and until then the file showed as text.

## macOS 1.24

*September 5, 2026*

- The footer says when your pages are actually on the web. Syncing a vault and publishing its pages are two jobs, and the badge watched only the first: it read "synced" while wander.md kept filling in for another five minutes. It now reads "synced · publishing 190/576" while the pages are being built, then "published". If a build fails it says so, and the sync popover offers to try again.
- Zen mode no longer flickers, and the note takes the whole window. The sidebars and the chrome fade away and give back their height, so nothing is left painting a strip across the top and the last lines of a note are no longer hidden behind a footer that is not there. The note keeps its width and its place, so no line rewraps and nothing jumps.
- HTML comments are hidden in the rendered view. A `<!-- comment -->` line takes no space until you move the caret into it, which shows the raw text in place.
- The scroll thumb stays quiet when a note opens. It flashed on every open, and in every screenshot.
- A footnote's peek card shows the note, not the number glued to the front of it. Hovering a reference read "3His mother was Domitia Calvilla" because the card took the label and the text as one string.
- A link to a section of another note lands on that section. `5.21` pointed at an id nobody had stamped: the heading was given the id `5.21` while the link was rewritten to `#5-21`. Headings and links use one rule now, and `#5.21`, a link to a section of the note you are in, works.
- A vault owned by a team is addressed by the team's name. The sync popover, the web link and publishing all composed the address from your own handle, so a team vault pointed at nothing.
- A highlight in the Comments panel reads as a highlight. A vault of imported reading highlights drew each marked sentence as a full comment card, with a Resolve link, a reply box, a reaction button and the sentence itself cut off after a line. A highlight is now one row: the whole sentence, a swatch, and who marked it. The reaction button is the same shape and size as every other small control, and the empty space above it is gone.
- Embedded files show on a published page again. A note carrying `!sketch.excalidraw`, `!run.gpx` or `!paper.typ` printed the raw link text on wander.md and drew nothing: drawings render as pictures, gpx and geojson tracks as a map, typst as its page, mermaid as its diagram, and `!another-note` reads as a link to that note.
- Math renders on a published page. A note with `$e^{i\pi}+1=0$` in it printed the dollars and the LaTeX on wander.md while the app drew the formula; formulas are typeset there now, inline ones on the line of text and `$$` ones centred on their own, and a price like $5 is still a price.

## macOS 1.23

*September 2, 2026*

- Typing a markdown link makes a link. `[text](url)` stayed as plain text, and the brackets were then escaped into the file as `\[text\]\(url\)`, where no amount of clicking could ever turn it back. A reader lost the links in a whole note this way.
- A plain URL stays a plain URL. Typing anywhere in a paragraph containing `https://example.com` used to add angle brackets around it that you never typed.
- Copying out of Wander gives clean markdown. Pastes carried the `&#x20;` the serializer writes for a trailing space, and stray backslashes, into whatever you pasted into. The file on disk was always clean; the clipboard was not.
- Clicking a heading in the Outline panel goes to that heading in very large documents. It used to land somewhere else entirely: the jump was measured against estimated block heights, and on a 6,000-block document the estimate is nowhere near the truth.
- Bold and italic work across several cells of a typst table at once. Selecting a column and pressing Cmd-B refused; now each cell's text is emphasised and the table structure is left exactly as it was.
- Typing in a very long document is faster: an invisible layer was measuring every block in the file on each keystroke, even in notes with nothing in that layer.
- Grey text is one grey. Subtitles, chart labels and the comments inside a code block were drawn in several different greys, and the faintest of them were hard to read on some displays. There is one now, and it is the darker one.
- Opening a .base file no longer freezes Wander. Running a base reads every note in the vault to resolve its links, and in an iCloud folder any note the system had offloaded stopped the whole app until it downloaded. Offloaded notes are skipped now instead of stalling everything.
- Printing fits the paper. Notes printed at whatever size the screen was set to, with the on-screen reading column and no page rules, so a short note could run to several sheets. There is a proper printed layout now: 11pt text across the full page, headings that do not strand themselves at the foot of a sheet, and code blocks and tables that are not split down the middle. A new Print Size in Settings ▸ Appearance sets how large the page prints, separately from View ▸ Zoom.
- A long note prints all of it. Very large documents skip laying out what is off-screen, which is what makes them open quickly, and the printer was being handed those unmeasured pages as blanks.
- Clicking a place on a map selects it, and shows its name and where it is. Selecting a row in the panel lights its dot, and clicking a dot lights its row. Clicking anywhere along a route selects the route, not only its two end points.
- Every map draws the same pin, in the same colours. A base's rows came out as large red balloons, a .geojson as small bare dots, and a trip day was one colour on the Mac and another on the phone.
- Right-clicking a place works on every map, not only inside a map file.
- A map file has one actions menu instead of two. The verbs that sat in a second menu on the map now live in the file menu with everything else, and the ones a read-only .kmz can never run are gone from it rather than permanently greyed.
- Table borders are no longer cut off at the corners, in notes and on the typst page.
- The formatting bar no longer stays on screen after you switch to another file.
- A table's header looks like a header again, in a base and in a .bib: it was the same white as its rows, separated by the same hairline every row draws.
- The strip above a base view and above a reference list draws a line under itself, and a base view with no summary line no longer leaves an empty band above the window footer.
- A selected row is readable: dark text on the blue selection has been made light.
- A csv shows a small readable table on its card instead of a whole page shrunk to a tenth of the size.
- Opening a .bib puts the cursor in the list, not in the filter field, so the arrow keys reach the rows.
- Backlink snippets keep their links. Stripping the invisible `<a name>` anchors out of a snippet was also eating the closing tag of real links, and an uppercase `<A NAME=...>` was never stripped at all. Wander re-reads the notes it has indexed once, on first launch, to repair the snippets it had already stored.

## macOS 1.22

*August 31, 2026*

- Edit a typst document right on the typeset page. Click a word, type, bold it, add a table row, join two lines: the source updates as you go, and the formatting bar acts on what you selected in the preview. This was a dev-only experiment; it ships on by default, and Settings › Appearance can turn it off.
- Reference-sized documents open in about a second instead of half a minute. A reader sent in the C++ Core Guidelines (2,600 headings, 840KB) as a stress test: it took 38 seconds to appear, almost all of it spent waiting for a screen refresh that never came. Typing in it no longer walks every heading on each keystroke either.
- The formatting bar over a typst page now offers the six things typst can actually do, instead of twenty markdown ones that did nothing.
- Tags no longer come out of code. A C++ document offered `#define`, `#include` and `#ifndef` as its tags; a number on its own, like an issue reference, is not a tag either.
- The Links panel shows a link's real title instead of the raw HTML anchor in front of it.
- Typing into a bullet list written with `*` keeps the `*` on every line and keeps the blank line after the list. Before, a save could glue the next paragraph onto the last item.
- Typing into an indented code block keeps it indented instead of rewriting it as a fenced block.
- Extra blank lines show at the right place in notes with indented code or wrapped list items; before, a long document could show blank paragraphs where the file had none and miss the ones it had.
- Notes with frontmatter save as fast as notes without: a keystroke in a long note with properties took the slow path on every save.
- Typing near `K&R`, `R&D` or `a & b` no longer adds a backslash.
- Typing in a wrapped list item or a paragraph whose lines start with a space no longer re-indents the other lines.
- Typing in a very long note no longer pauses a moment after you stop: the editor was re-reading the whole document a fifth of a second after every change.
- Opening a note no longer re-saves it. The app already refused to write identical bytes; now it does not do the work either.
- An `<a name="...">` anchor in a note is a link target, not text, and no longer prints itself in the middle of your paragraph.
- The zoom controls in the map view highlight on hover like every other button.

## macOS 1.21

*August 27, 2026*

- The typst editor grows real semantics. A .typ file's document details (title, author, date, keywords) and its #metadata records edit right in the Info panel, the same place a note's frontmatter lives.
- Figures and Footnotes list in the Info panel; click one to jump to it in the source.
- Hover a citation in a .typ's source to see its bibliography entry.
- Bases: open Obsidian .base files as database views (tables, filters, formulas), and read a folder as an editable properties table.

## macOS 1.20

*August 26, 2026*

- Become a patron: Wander is free and stays free, and the About popover now takes a one-time gift toward its development. It unlocks nothing.
- Restore Purchases, under the patron amounts: a gift made on another Mac, or before a reinstall, comes back to this one.
- Saving a long note is instant. A 640KB note took nearly two seconds per keystroke and now takes about two milliseconds.
- Typing near initials like S.W.F., snake_case words or a lone asterisk no longer rewrites them with backslashes.
- Opening a note with 20,000 headings is far quicker, and so is every note with many links, citations or footnotes.
- A file too large to edit, like a data dump with no blank lines, opens read-only as plain text instead of hanging the editor.
- Search is faster on large vaults.

## macOS 1.19

*August 25, 2026*

- Multiple selections: Cmd-D selects the word, again adds the next match, typing changes them all, Esc back to one.
- Move by sentence with Option-Cmd-Left and Right. Cmd-apostrophe folds the section. Shift-Cmd-Delete jumps to your last edit.
- Shortcuts follow iA Writer and Bear: Cmd-1 to 6 headings, Cmd-L lists, Cmd-J code, Option-Cmd-F replace, Option-Cmd-Up and Down move a block. Focus mode is Shift-Cmd-F.
- Help, Keyboard Shortcuts lists every key.
- Your own shortcuts: keybindings.json in Application Support, VS Code's format. Two starter files for VS Code and Obsidian habits.
- Long notes open and type faster.
- Search as you type is instant on large vaults.
- Publishing shows progress, and the Publish Vault sheet closes when done.

## macOS 1.18

*August 23, 2026*

- Rename or move a note and every link that pointed at it follows, and history records it as "links updated: Sync.md to Sync New.md".
- Two notes with the same name in different folders are never guessed at: the link stays exactly as you wrote it.
- Zen Mode on Cmd-period: sidebars, panels and footer step away, leaving only the paper.
- Focus In reads like the breadcrumb: crumbs are shortcuts to each ancestor, arrows move between sections, and the outline dims what is outside your section.
- The breadcrumb stops at the folder, and the window names the file.
- Every control follows your colors: history buttons, the conflict bar, pickers, search fields, tables, the folder switcher and the sorted column. The last white capsules are gone.
- The side panel repaints the moment you change your colors.

## iOS 1.19

*unreleased*

- Tap a cell in a spreadsheet's grid and edit it there. The grid opens as the default view of a .csv or .tsv, and until now a tap on a cell did nothing at all, so the editor looked broken to anyone who did not go looking for the Raw view. A tapped cell opens a field with its value selected; Return keeps it and drops to the cell below, Done keeps it and puts the keyboard away, and Previous Cell and Next Cell above the keyboard walk the row and carry on into the next one. Only the edited line of the file is rewritten, quoting and all, and the rest of the file keeps its bytes.
- Press and hold a column's title to rename it. Tapping the title still sorts by it.
- On an iPad in Split, an edit in the grid shows in the raw text beside it straight away, and typing in the raw text still redraws the grid.
- A file too large to open whole stays read-only, and a tap on one of its cells says so on the cell instead of doing nothing.

## iOS 1.18

*September 9, 2026*

- Open a note, go back, open another: the second note's page appears in place, and only it. The slide used to run on the previous note's page, with its selection still showing, and the keyboard and the format bar could rise for that page for a moment before the new one loaded. The editor now knows which note it is showing at every instant, hides the paper while a note is on its way, and lets go of the keyboard when it leaves the screen.
- Settings: the Restore button beside the patron amounts stays on one line. On a phone the four amounts left it too little room and it wrapped inside its pill. It now shows the full name where that fits, and Restore where it does not, at the same height as the amounts.
- The phone writes down what it does when you open a note, go back and open again: the push, the pop, the keyboard's frame and where the format bar is drawn, one line each in the device log. A format bar that showed over the wrong view mid-screen left no trace before, so the next time it happens the sequence can be read instead of guessed.
- Undo after a delete says where the file went and, when it cannot come back, what the Trash holds instead. A restore that answered "no longer in the Trash" for a file that had just been deleted was not saying why.
- iPad: the menu bar. Swipe down from the top edge, or move the pointer there, and every command is listed: File with New Note, New Folder, Open Folder, Open File, Open Recent, Today, Inbox, Search and Share; Edit with find, select next and jump to last edit; Format with every mark, heading and list; View with the panel, focus, outline and fold. Same names and keys as the Mac.
- The vault's name at the top is a menu: tap it to switch to another recent vault, or open a folder or a file. On the iPad it is the sidebar's title. The start screen lists the recent vaults too, with where each one lives, and Settings › Vaults has the same list.
- Wander can be the default app for markdown. Files › Open With › Always, or Settings › Apps › Default Apps, and every .md from Mail or Files opens here.
- Deleting a note shows Undo for a moment, and shake to undo works too.
- Opening a note lands at its top, with no caret and no keyboard. Coming from a note you were typing in, the new one used to open scrolled to its end with the keyboard still up.
- Tapping below the text of a short note puts the caret at the end and brings up the keyboard. A fresh daily note could look uneditable until you tapped its heading.
- Switching to a vault on a slow provider shows a spinner instead of a blank page, and the list shows before the vault-wide note count finishes.
- Opening a note that is a web link on a vault from another app's File Provider no longer hangs the app on the previous note.
- Link preview cards are off by default, as on the Mac, with a switch in Settings › Appearance. The phone never received the setting before and drew a card for every lone link.
- History & Search moved out of the ⋯ menu into Settings › Features, under the folder's name, where the folder's other switches are.
- The About card grew up, in Settings: who makes Wander, with a photo; a row to rate it; issue, idea and question that open the feedback sheet; updates by email with the field right there. Settings › Apps is one plain list of the family.
- "Summarise this" about the open note. On iOS 18.2 and later Siri and ChatGPT can read the note on screen; nothing to name.
- A .base file opens as its table; the Database feature is on by default.
- One scroll indicator on a note. On iOS 26 the page drew its own scrollbar under the system one, so a long note showed two thumbs that disagreed after a fast scroll.
- A comment quote selected on one note no longer follows you into the next note's compose sheet.
- iPad: a file opened beside the sidebar no longer runs under it, and the Info panel opens as a sheet in portrait instead of squeezing the note to a sliver.
- An empty note no longer scrolls, and the spreadsheet grid has a margin on the phone with header labels over their columns.
- Open in Wander from wander.md finds the vault again, and says so when it cannot. Open a synced vault once after updating and every link to it works from then on.
- Recent vaults show the last 20, and Settings has Clear Recent Vaults. The longer history behind it keeps links and Spotlight working.

## iOS 1.17

*September 1, 2026*

- Typing a markdown link makes a link. `[text](url)` stayed as plain text and the brackets were escaped into the file, where the link could not be recovered.

- Wander no longer quits when a note changes on another device. With a note open and its Info panel showing, a file arriving from iCloud could close the app outright. This is the one to have: it fires exactly when a vault is synced across a Mac and an iPad, which is when people are relying on it most.
- Tapping a search result opens it. On iPhone the note never opened at all: the search closed and you were left where you started. Two separate faults, both fixed. The open was also being started while the search was still closing, and results for anything that is not a plain note could not be resolved at all. A result that genuinely cannot be found now tells you so instead of doing nothing.
- Move a note to another folder on iPhone. Long-press offered Rename and Delete but never Move to, so on the phone there was no way to move a note into a folder at all. Drilling into a folder also lost Rename and Delete entirely; every folder screen now offers the same actions.
- The sidebar looks like a sidebar on iPad. It was drawn in the same white as the note beside it, so the column holding your folders read as more empty page.
- The Help and Docs are reachable again from a single open file. Opening one file on its own hid the row that opens the manual, and that mode fills the screen, so the guide could be read once and never found again.
- Table and spreadsheet cells are one size again. A column of figures mixed sizes and greys within a single table; emphasis is carried by weight now, so every cell stays readable.

## iOS 1.16

*August 31, 2026*

- In landscape the text no longer runs under the notch. A reader on an iPhone 12 mini found it; the note now keeps clear of the camera housing and the home indicator in every orientation.
- The Files browser can be closed again. "New Document…" and "Open a Single File…" opened it with no way back, so changing your mind meant force quitting. It has a Cancel.
- Appearance settings work when you opened a single file rather than a vault. Text size, font, width and colours all changed the setting and nothing on screen.
- A note kept in iCloud that is not on this device yet now says it is downloading, instead of showing a frozen screen while it waits. If it cannot download, it says that too.
- Long-press a file or folder in the browser for the same actions the sidebar offers, and swipe to rename or delete. Only the star swipe existed before, so a folder made in the browser could not be renamed or removed there.
- Creating, renaming, deleting and duplicating now update the screen you are looking at. They always changed the file on disk; the browser often kept showing the old name or the deleted row, which made a rename look like it had done nothing and invited deleting the same folder twice.
- New Folder scrolls to the folder it just made and selects it, so you can see it happened, and no longer stalls the app while it writes.
- The star action is called Add to Favorites everywhere, instead of Pin in one place and Favorites in another.
- File rows are easier to read: the date and first line under each name are darker.
- Editing a typst document on its typeset page moved to Features, where it belongs, and the Appearance screen no longer contains a row called Appearance.
- The support amounts in About are proper buttons now, lined up with each other and with the text above them.
- Everything in macOS 1.22 below: long notes open and type faster, and several ways a save could rewrite bytes you did not touch are gone.

## iOS 1.14

- The more-actions menu over an open note gains Add to Favorites, the same toggle the file list's long-press offers.
- A note now opens at the top of the page.
- On iPad in portrait, opening or creating a note now tucks the floating sidebar away.
- Settings on iPad grew into the room it has.
- A note whose title starts with a stray space no longer renames its file to a garbled "&#x20;" name.
- The references (.bib), table, map and Typst surfaces now follow your background color instead of staying white.
- The note's side margins follow the width of the column rather than the device.
- An image you paste or drop into a note now syncs the moment it lands.
- File size in the footer reads like a size: 1.4 KB, not 1396 B.
- The formatting bar's Insert Table icon draws a proper table again instead of a scrambled grid.

- The same protection now covers creating, renaming, moving, duplicating and saving.
- Copying an image inside a note and pasting it again no longer grows a stray caption under the pasted copy.
- One selection, one bar: where the floating formatting bar appears, the comment button rides in it.
- Background and text color, remembered separately for Light and Dark.
- On iPhone, Appearance opens as a half sheet with the note visible above it, repainting as you tap.

## macOS 1.17

*August 22, 2026*

- A background and text color you pick in Appearance paints the whole app, not just the note.
- Selecting an image no longer leaves a sliver of the text cursor painted over it.
- An image you paste or drop into a note now syncs the moment it lands.
- The toolbar's more-actions button now matches its neighbors instead of sitting there as an odd circled icon of its own size.
